Well, that was fast

I just lost my roommate.

Becky was on the cheerleading squad and gone most of the time, but last Friday night she started complaining her stomach was hurting. Her mom only gave her Kaopectate growing up and she thought that’s what she needed, so I called Daniel and he drove us both down to the GoMart to buy some.

That was two in the morning… she was gone when I woke up.

No note, no nothing. Poof — gone. I never got her phone number (stupid me) so I didn’t know who to call. I guess I should have told someone at the main office she was missing first thing Monday morning, but by the time I thought of it, in came Felicia (another cheerleader) bearing details.

Unbeknownst to me, Becky had called her dad up in Clarksburg  at 4am to come and get her.  After they got home, Becky got worse and went to the ER — diagnosis: appendicitis. They had to remove it before it burst… which means I think I have a private room for the rest of the semester, and it’s weirding me out.

Becky could have died…! I would have woken up with a corpse just across the room from me. How effed up would that have been for a college freshman?

Felicia said Becky wanted to thank Daniel and I for taking her to get meds. Even her parents thanked us! Now that Becky will be up home for a while, I kind of miss her.

It just got really quiet in here.

  • Note: this was move-in day — you don’t want to see it now — but that’s how it feels right now. Get better, Becky.
